Tarly & the Pilot

Today's is more vlog than blog because it's mostly rendered in a video titled Tarly and the Pilot: Or, When to Lie and When to Tell the Truth. It's a video that, as you can see, draws upon a scene or two in Game of Thrones and another scene from Philip Kaufman's The Right Stuff, but isn't really about the show or movie but another topic: lying and telling the truth.

Whoever said, "Never tell a lie," was a callous bastard. But when should you tell the truth and when should you lie? This five-minute video suggests two simple rules on how to know the difference.

Sundays during Season 6 are normally Game of Thrones day, but I published this video today because it is only peripherally related to HBO's show, and because Sunday happens to be Mother's Day in the US, so tomorrow I plan to tell you a little bit about my mother. Which, for no particular reason reminds me of this dramatic moment in Blade Runner:

Holden:I mean, you're not helping. Why is that Leon? — They're just questions, Leon. In answer to your query, they're written down for me. It's a test, designed to provoke an emotional response. — Shall we continue? Describe in single words, only the good things that come in to your mind about... your mother.
Leon:My mother?
Holden:Yeah.
Leon:Let me tell you about my mother...
